When we are young, we are able to eat large amounts of foods. And because we are growing, the food is used to grow muscle, bone, nerve, organs and other tissues. We fight off many diseases with all the nutrients, and junk, we take in our systems. Also, when we are young, we tend to exercise more and burn up a lot of energy so we generally do not gain too much weight. As we age, many of us start to gain weight and slow down and this is when the diseases start to catch up with us. To try to not gain weight, we cut down on many foods and nutrients. As we cut back on food and nutrients that we need, our systems start to go through a degenerative process. The organs do not get the nutrition they need and start to falter in their normal daily functioning. At this point we start to become overwhelmed with the bad bacteria and viruses and toxins from the environment and the degeneration process is enhanced. We continue to eat less and the downhill process escalates until the cancer or the plaque and the hardening of the arteries and diseases do us in. Whereas, the degradation process does not have to so profound if we monitor what we consume and take appropriate nutrition including vitamins and minerals. As we cut down on the amount of food we eat, we must supplement with vitamins and minerals. We can cut down on total fat, protein and carbohydrate, since we do not burn up as much. But we still have to take those essential vitamins and minerals our systems need to make the chemical reaction going on in our body work to help us fight the bacteria, virus, fungus, yeast and toxins. You can not just cut back on the food components, ( protein, fat and carbohydrate ) and think you will stay well without vitamins and minerals. It just will not happen! Therefore, after the stroke, heart attack or other major disease or illness proper nutrition is the only way to recover and keep generally healthy which is why I have patients in my chelation program take certain specific additional supplements. These are discussed with each patient individually as well as which foods to omit from a diet and which foods to maintain or increase. There are many very good diet programs on the market and as each year goes by more and more" pop up. " But, most of the good programs have the same basic components. That is, they all have a certain amount of protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals. Basics are basics and there are certain things that are basic to the normal function of each human body and even though the amounts may vary from one to another, we still need certain basics. |
